The weather report remains spectacular!

The pool is a warming up to 75 this Thursday morning.

Burgers will go on the grill Friday around 6:00 due to the earlier sunsets.

We'll try and remember to pick up a Power Ball ticket for Friday. Wouldn't that be a great way to sign off on this years Happy Hour season. Remember, all welcome adult friends in attendance for the winning Happy Hour will share equally in a split when we hit! Not here? Sorry.

Water should be about 80 for the weekend!

Here's what we're thinking

Whereas; we have a pretty darned good forecast starting Wednesday running through Sunday.
Whereas; we had a lousy swimming September.
Whereas; we would like to have a final Happy Hour this year.

We do proclaim 10/07/11 as a Happy Hour day.

If I can get the heater fired up I'll turn it on Wednesday and try to warm the pool enough for a swim through the weekend.

The usual crowd is welcome 10/5 - 10/9 through the day and up untill about dark. You might have to do a little leaf netting while your swimming.

Later Wednesday and in the following days I'll post the water temp so you know whether a wetsuit or a bikini is the better choice.

Let's hope the forecast holds true!

September goes out with a chilly wet Friday

Looks like another weather related Happy Hour shutout this Friday. High of 54 and showers!?! The last part of September is usually a great time to swim laps. Warm afternoons keep the pool at a good lap swim temp. Alas, not this year.

We may, I hate to say it, close the pool soon. The 10 day forecast calls for a high of 72 on 10/4 and 65 for that Friday. We'll keep an eye on how temp are trending. It appears 10/5 might offer a slight chance for HH. I'll update as we get closer.

All in all a good swim summer. We greatly enjoyed the Happy Hours and the company for weekend and week day swims. Your friendship is much appreciated.

Just to see what happened, I did purchase a PowerBall and Mega ticket for last weekend with no Happy Hour scheduled. Once again nothing - zero - zilch.

Looking like a NO GO for Happy Hour 9/23

The weather report is cool and rainy for this Friday. Maybe next Friday?

We had a great time on Kelleys Island for the Poker Paddle of 9/17. Wind kicked up a bit and they had to adjust the route to avoid the worst of the waves. From the beach at the State Park to the NW corner of the island we hit some 2 to 2 1/2 footers starting out. The rest of the paddle was pretty easy until we got back to the NW corner and back to the beach. This time we saw several 3 footers and what we think were a couple 4 footers. Yikes! Paddle hard and don't stop!

We saw Mary Beth Fulton and Kelley O'Toole on Kelleys Island. Met Kelley's husband Mike. Had a good time talking to them and had a few drinks together.

Wonderful days for a bike ride on Sunday so we paddled Saturday and peddled Sunday.

Big thanks to Brien and Chris for helping with Loki. It was obvious he was well cared for.

Happy Hour report from July 29, 2011

Once again, great fun was had by all. Brien was first to arrive. He Beth and I had first shot at the BLT pizza. There was plenty for all. Terry brought "Mariachi" pizza and Nancy & Don brought BBQ sandwiches.
Barry, Kathy, Lillian and later Amanda visited. Marty, Michelle and Reece were here. Tim came by as did Don and Chris. Some of our Wednesday night trivia buddies made it. Trivia buddies included Captain Bernie, Sue and first time ever attendee Margo. Margo looked like she was having a blast swimming with the girls and the girls thought it great fun too. The storms kept us on edge as far as when the water was OK for swimming and they put on a great show to the south. Fortunately they either went north or south of us. Neighbor Brad from a couple houses away stopped in for a first time appearance too.

Thanks too all for the kind birthday wishes, cards and gifts!

I'll check the lotto tickets later today. Maybe ... just maybe!

Report from July 8 Happy Hour and Troop support update

Bert Thomson came by and picked up 7 or 8 boxes of needed items to ship to our troops. They were crammed full of great usable stuff to make life a bit easier on our service people. GREAT JOB EVERYONE! And a good turnout for Happy Hour too. We had some first timers for the year again. Shelly Whitefield Bodi came cruising in sporting her new Camry. What a pleasant surprise! She promises to come back with her husband Kevin. Rachael and Randy came by for a swim and conversation. Welcome back to them. Brien and Terry were in attendance too. Rick got here early and Margo got here not as late as the week before. Overtime on Friday night just seems wrong. We met them Saturday at the Draft House after a stint at the Jazz and rib fest on the square. A good weekend for us! Neighbors Don and Nancy came over as did Alan and Bonnie. Reece brought Marty and Michelle for a visit and a swim for Reece and last but not least ... Loki came out to see what was going on. Good news on the lotto front! We had two numbers on one ticket!!! We are starting to get the hang of this. You better show up Friday July 15. This could be the time!
