We may have a little City BBQ and I'm thinking of cooking up some of my Key West favorite. Here is the recipe from Richard direct from Key West!
Picadilla
Recipe
2-1/4
lbs lean ground meat
1/2 cup
olive oil
2 green
peppers (diced)
2-3
onions (diced)
1-1/2
small cans of tomato paste
Oregano
1-2
tablespoons Worcestire Sauce
4-5 Bay
Leaves
Salt
and Pepper
1 jar
of green olives (cut in half)
2-1/2 little
boxes of Golden Raisins
4-5
cloves Garlic
1/2 jar
Capers
Rice
and Beans
Brown
meat, drain and put in big pot. Add Worcester sauce.
Saute
onions, peppers and garlic in a little olive oil
Add
oregano, salt and pepper. Dump into big pot.
Add
raisins, olives and capers.
Add
tomato paste and olive oil
Mix
well. Lastly, add bay leaves.
Let
Simmer for 1/2-1 hour.
Make
black beans and yellow rice.
Add
olive oil, garlic, some onions and green peppers to black beans and simmer for
a while!
