The forecast is for sunny and 72. Sounds great. We are now ON for Happy Hour. Come on over if you can.
BTW, Power ball was a bust. No numbers hit. Zero. We'll get them this week!
Poolside Happy Hour or maybe SUNDAY BRUNCH starts mid May through early September to mid October. This site will keep you informed about which Fridays OR OTHER days we will be having a gathering. Friday fun start at 5 PM until 7 or 8. Might run a bit later. We always have adult beverages on hand & snacks & hors d'oeuvres of some sort. Bring something with you or not. We'll be happy to see you either way. BTW ~ Kids are welcome. If you bring them, you watch them.

Nice start to the Happy Hour season!
The decision wasn't made until late to chance the weather and have the season's first Happy Hour.
It was a pretty good turn out and a nice evening until the storm hit a little before dark.
Don sponsored cake & we all celebrated Chris's birthday.
The scene stealer of the party arrived in a stroller escorted by mom Amie. We all through Ivy enjoyed Happy Hour and the attention received.
Peggy and Lynn were first timers. Turns out Lynn and I went to NHS at the same time. Nancy and Don brought that great hamburger / baked bean casserole + Sloppy Joe's and snacks were served. Alan and Bonnie were in attendance. Barry made a visit as the storm was rolling and things were winding down.
Loki came out after a while and seemed to get used to the hubbub of HH again.
Didn't take many but here's a few pics.

What the hey!
Since it's Chris Snider's brithday we have to do something fun, Yes? So come on over if you get a chance.
FYI, Water was in the 70's this morning.

Pretty iffy forecast for tonight
The weather channel says 20% of rain at 3:00, 75% at 4 and then settles down to 50 / 50 for a few hours. Chance of rain dropping substantially after Happy Hour would be over.
We have not canceled HH yet so check back around 3 or 4.
I stand corrected on the burrito matter. It's Sloppy Joe's and chicken sandwiches on the menu.
If we don't do Happy Hour tonight pool side we might venture over to Mudflats in Galena. Great food, cold drinks and music. http://www.themudflats.com/ Love the place. Takes about 45 minutes to get there from our place. The band that played last Saturday was "Tin Pan Alley". Liked them. They started their first set at 8:30 which allowed us to stay for a full set! Made it home well before we turned into pumpkins. Check it out some time. I think you'll love the place too.

Water's warming up as the temps rise.
I'm thinking yes for a Friday Happy Hour. The weather forecast is hit and miss for Friday as of right now. Scattered pop-up is enough to be optimistic about. I'll be monitoring conditions throughout Friday to confirm here on your Happy Hour site.
Even if I can't get the heater fired up, some diehards might consider the pool acceptable for a splash on Friday. It's risen from a very chilly 55 on Monday to what I expect to be 70 for HH w/o heater intervention. The solar cover is doing it's job!
Beth is planning a Cinco de Mayo burrito theme. She test drove them on me and the euchre club. Yumm.
Check back on Friday.

The weather is getting there!
Yesterday was a great day to work on the pool, pool house and yard.
There's a mixed forecast for this coming Friday. We will be keeping an eye on things and are cautiously optimistic for a Friday Happy Hour.
I'll try and get the heater up and running for a day just to take the chill off if we decide on HH for this Friday. The solar cover will come out too during the week. That should make the kids happy.
Hope we can do it ... stay tuned.

We're getting closer!
We would like to announce that the grungy winter cover is off of the pool! It's being filled up to the skimmers as I type.
We'll keep you posted on opening day and the seasons first happy hour.
One cool thing to report is that Lydia Brownfield has agreed to come back for another solo performance. We're still looking for a good date to schedule her in. Check back.
Fingers crossed for several days in the 70's. Hope to see you soon.
Bonus coverage:
Here's Lydia with her band

The weather report remains spectacular!
The pool is a warming up to 75 this Thursday morning.
Burgers will go on the grill Friday around 6:00 due to the earlier sunsets.
We'll try and remember to pick up a Power Ball ticket for Friday. Wouldn't that be a great way to sign off on this years Happy Hour season. Remember, all welcome adult friends in attendance for the winning Happy Hour will share equally in a split when we hit! Not here? Sorry.
Water should be about 80 for the weekend!

Here's what we're thinking
Whereas; we have a pretty darned good forecast starting Wednesday running through Sunday.
Whereas; we had a lousy swimming September.
Whereas; we would like to have a final Happy Hour this year.
We do proclaim 10/07/11 as a Happy Hour day.
If I can get the heater fired up I'll turn it on Wednesday and try to warm the pool enough for a swim through the weekend.
The usual crowd is welcome 10/5 - 10/9 through the day and up untill about dark. You might have to do a little leaf netting while your swimming.
Later Wednesday and in the following days I'll post the water temp so you know whether a wetsuit or a bikini is the better choice.
Let's hope the forecast holds true!
