Nine were in attendance at a fine Happy Hour.

I liked the beef and peppers, Peggy's grandma's potato salad recipe was a hit and several dips and chips were enjoyed.  We stayed under cover of the pool house most of the time due to come and go drizzle.  I'll be checking the lottery tickets Sunday.  A nine way split would be sweet.  I'll also post a couple pictures Wednesday.

It's very so so weather wise but we have some good food in the cooker and some cold ones in the frig.  The PowerBall ticket has been purchased!  See you soon or see you next time!

Forecast WAS looking promising for happy Hour June 19

Update Friday morning!  Well well well.  The forecast illustration posted down below has been revised 12 hours later.  It says 55 percent chance at 5, 30 percent at 6 and 7 pm.  We'll just have to wait and see about Happy Hour. Check back as we get closer. Dang!

The last few happy hours we have had about a 30% chance of rain.  It's a little scary when we get a 0, zero % forecast.  We'll be brave and say we are ON for Happy Hour this Friday June 19.

Beth plan is to make a shredded beef and peppers.  Great for sandwiches or in a bowl.  I'm a big fan!

I'll pick up a PowerBall ticket.  You better show up dear welcome guests**.  You don't want to be the only one NOT becoming a bizzillionare!

BTW.  I haven't played euchre in a long time.  If you are interested in a game or two Friday, look me up.  Traditionally Friday night euchre rules have a few quirks. First: It's cutthrought which means if suit selection comes back to the dealer a second time, the dealer must make trump.  B. We also allow a call of "no trump" to be made if everyone passed on the first round and the up card is turned down. High card wins the trick, there is "no trump" suit.  3. Stealing of the deal is permitted.  If the larcenous dealer gets all the cards dealt and trump choice card turned up before a protest from the violated team can be lodged, the deal is done and the cards shall be played as dealt.  The next deal goes to the player to the left of the thief ... unless there is another swiping of the deal!

To review, any "welcome guest"** who attends that Friday happy hour in which we win a PowerBall jackpot on the next drawing, shares equally in the pot.

We have the caveat "welcome guest**" to be able to not include those who are not intended to be included such as the pizza guy, the dude that cuts across the back yard, errant skydivers, wandering neighbors and the like. Minors under the age of 18 do not qualify for a share unless agreed upon by Kim and Beth. We are the final authority as defining "welcome guests".  This statement of policy supersedes any previous statement of policy.

Nice bunch of folks showed up for Happy Hour!

The manhunt is over.  Brien is alive and well and was in attendance as was Terry and Rachael.  Peggy and Kolt were here and so was Kolts lovely companion Devini.  I hope I spelled her name correctly.  Ken, Josh and Zoe the swimmer were here, Margo and Snicker, Beth and Todd, Don and Chris, Barry, Kathy, Amanda and Lilli, Ellen, Lisa and Kathy G, Marty, Reece and friend were here for a bit, Nancy and Rob, and from the back yard came neighbors Randy and Tracy.  We hope to see them at more Happy Hours.

I thank Lilli for getting me into the pool.  It was a great night for a swim.

We were strangely close on several PowerBall AND Mega Millions numbers but not close enough. We'll try again next time!

NEWS FLASH!

*They (see below) say a storm is on the way due to hit about 5:30! over by 6:00?  I'm going to take cushions and umbrellas in until after the storm.  It looks like a short in duration event (I'm hoping).  We'll put the rib samplers on after that.  Come on over if you like.  We'll be very happy to see you!

It is looking pretty good for Happy Hour Friday from 5:00 until ...

We have some chance of rain but it looks like under 20% until later in the evening.  We are on unless a bad forecast pops up.  The pool should be above 80, maybe as high as 85?

I'll pick up a PowerBall ticket.  Beth has something cooking up.  There are several cold ones in the frig.  Come on over!

Hey!  Did you see the Belmont Stakes?  We have a Triple Crown winner after all these many years!  A group of us went to Nicks in Utica for the race.  We had a blast!

The weather channel says warm, windy and NOT wet for Friday June 12.  We'll check for forecast updates Thursday and post yea or nay or maybay for Happy Hour ...

No luck on the remainder of the lotto ticket.  As always ... we'll get them next time.

Raynor shines at Happy Hour

 In all, thirty were in attendance is my best guess.  More details and actual pictures of the artist himself to follow.  Be sure to check back.  Thanks to all for making it a great time!

The winning Mega Millions numbers were 7-22-27-41-49 and 10.  I'll check them against our ticket.  We have two other chances to win.  We purchase a PowerBall ticket for tonight's drawing and Rick Grove chipped in another ticket and I'm not sure which drawing it is for.  I'll keep you posted!

So far so good!

We have a decent forecast for Happy Hour with some reports of about a 30% chance of spotty rain and light breezes.  As of now we are ON for Happy Hour!  Check back if you see the forecast changes and you are in doubt.
Friday June 5, 2015, weather permitting, Wes Raynor shall be playing guitar and serenading us!
I would expect Wes to keep even a closer eye on the weather situation.  If he decides it's too risky to set up and play, we'll try to schedule him again but will still party on tonight.

I am optimistic and have purchased our PowerBall  ticket, Beth has been marinating the tenderloin, and the pool should be warm enough for the kids anyway.  (update, it is at 76 degrees this Friday morning)

BTW, Rick and Margo should be at HH tonight.  You have only a month before their big move south.

We had a delightful visit from the past

In the early 90's we were a host family for Aydin Gokcen, a Denison student from Turkey.  We had the pleasure of visiting with him the past Friday, Saturday and Sunday as he and his lovely wife Sinem were here for a class reunion.  We also got a peek at his very cute daughter Yaz on face time.

We took them to the airport Sunday morning and had time to pose for a picture at the same spot where we took a photo of Aydin upon his arrival those many years ago.
