Happy hour that almost was

Feel free to have Happy Hour somewhere we just don't feel it's a good idea to have it here poolside.  If there is bad weather coming in it looks like 5:00 to 7:00 is the most likely time.

We haven't given up for another poolside Happy Hour this year so check back next week friends.

Happy Hour update Friday morning 9-21

The forecast took a turn for the worse.  NOT canceling at this moment but we need a change for the better.  I'll check back at lunch and post then.

5:00 PM now 65%    6:00 90%!#@$    7:00 80%.

Thursday update for 9/21 Happy Hour

It looks like we might be able to squeeze in a couple of hours or maybe more depending on what weather report is correct.  You may have to make a run for it if the squall line comes early!  I'll post another update Friday.  For now ... we are going to give it a shot!

BTW,    It looks to be pretty windy for Happy Hour regardless of rain or no rain.  15 to 19 MPH!

Expecting good weather for a Friday September 21 Happy Hour.

The forecast is calling for sunny and warm early.  Windy and 50% chance of rain late.  We are thinking after dark for the change for the worse.  We'll update as Happy Hour draws near but for now we are planning on it!  

Might be the last poolside Happy Hour of this year ... yikes!

We have been keeping the solar blanket on at night.  Tuesday the water was 78 so still pretty nice if you or the kids are thinking of swimming.

Beth says she may be making sloppy joe and shredded chicken sandwiches.

We hope for good weather and to see you poolside.

Irma makes landfall on Cudjoe Key

The sunny and 86+ forecast has us holding a poolside Happy Hour Saturday August 4.

Come by SATURDAY starting at 2:00 PM to enjoy a warm and hopefully sunny day at the pool ... and be prepared to celebrate Banjo's birthday!

We are on for Happy Hour Friday July 27!

The weather should be fine for a 5:00 start.  

I'm guessing the water temp will be low 80's.

The Picadilla has been resting in the kettle overnight.  We'll cook up some rice and beans to go with it.

Rumors of City BBQ persist.  

We hope to see you poolside!

Looks like Friday July 27 might be good for Happy Hour!

If the weather holds we should be ON!

We may have a little City BBQ and I'm thinking of cooking up some of my Key West favorite.  Here is the recipe from Richard direct from Key West! 

Picadilla  Recipe

2-1/4 lbs lean ground meat

1/2 cup olive oil

2 green peppers (diced)

2-3 onions (diced)

1-1/2 small cans of tomato paste

Oregano

1-2 tablespoons Worcestire Sauce

4-5 Bay Leaves

Salt and Pepper

1 jar of green olives (cut in half)

2-1/2 little boxes of Golden Raisins

4-5 cloves Garlic

1/2 jar Capers

Rice and Beans

Brown meat, drain and put in big pot.  Add Worcester sauce.

Saute onions, peppers and garlic in a little olive oil

Add oregano, salt and pepper.  Dump into big pot.

Add raisins, olives and capers.  

Add tomato paste and olive oil

Mix well.  Lastly, add bay leaves.

Let Simmer for 1/2-1 hour.

Make black beans and yellow rice.

Add olive oil, garlic, some onions and green peppers to black beans and simmer for a while!

No Happy Hour Friday July 20 but hoping for July 27

Aaron Madinger lost his life Sunday July 15 in a tragic traffic accident.  There will be a celebration of his life and memorial gathering this coming Sunday July 22 at the Trout Club. The gathering starts in the upstairs TC lounge 1:00 until 5:00

Aaron always greeted you with a smile on his face and in his heart.  Most sincere condolences to his family.

WOW!  What a great celebration!  So many wonderful folks gathered to remember, laugh, and toast a great friend.

Aaron is missed.
