I thought this might be a good post for our first snowy day of the fall.

About one hundred sixty days to go!

After the end of next month ... we will only have about 110 days to go!

Looks like no Happy Hour this Friday October 4.

Might be worth a check back next week to see if we can squeeze one more in.

Thanks for a very fun Happy Hour Friday September 28!

And the artist did appear!  The baked-grilled chicken was so good.  Nice turnout. Nice evening.  The only thing that didn't turn out the way we hoped was the PowerBall numbers.  We got shut out there.

YES to Happy Hour Friday September 27!

It is not necessarily the last Happy Hour at the pool this year but it might be.

So here is what we have going.  
1.  Could it be meet the mystery artist night?!?  There's new art in the pool house and rumor has it, the artist will be in the house.
B.  It looks like we'll have BBQ chicken on the grill.  Always one of my favorites.
III. The water should be warm enough for a swim.  We might bump up the heater a bit.  I'll try to be pool side 4ish in case you want to take early advantage of some warm fall temps and go for a swim.

AND you'll get chance to share in a couple bazillion bucks via POWER BALL! 

I see Michelle Reed has become a site "person of interest".  Hope you can make it and bring your boyfriend.

Brigitte, bring the family for a swim and big thanks for the apples. They were sweet!

No Happy Hour this Friday 9/20

The weather reporters have been sending out mixed signals.  Depending on who you check with, we have a 40 to 90% chance of storms late this afternoon.  3:00 at 20% jumping each hour with a jump to at least 50% by 6:00.

We'll pass on this happy hour and see you at the Beverage Source.

Last Friday was a great happy hour!

Lots of folks including many first time attendees.  Ribs, chicken, deserts and many side dishes.  

Wes was smooth.  He had some help on vocals too.  Thanks for making a beautiful evening extra special.

No hit on the powerball. One number on 3 plays.  We'll get them next time.

Happy Hour update 8/9/13

We are still planning on having Happy Hour!  The rains seem to have subsided.  Wes is reported to have said if it's not raining at 4:00 PM he is setting up.  3 cheers for Wes.  We'll have some ribs on the grill, some bbq chicken for sandwiches and we think Rick will be bringing his G I A N T submarine sandwich.

So come on over.  

The grass/yard is libel to be soft and soggy.  You can park at our house on the pavement.  You can park on the driveway at 80 Terrace or the driveway at 76 Terrace.  Don't block in the white van if Ray is still at 76.  

You can also park in the yard at 58 Terrace but stay to our side of the yard.  

ENTERTAINMENT scheduled for our Next Happy Hour 8/9/13!

The bad news is no Happy Hour tonight.  Now that that is out of the way ...

The good news is Wes Raynor will be strumming his six string at our Happy Hour thing on August 9.

We are weighing the options on a couple culinary choices, any one of which you wouldn't want to miss even if Wes wasn't going to be here.
And if that's not enough, I'll kick in for a couple extra Powerball tickets.*

*In case you didn't know, any welcome adult who attends Happy Hour will receive a share of the take if we hit the Powerball drawing.  We buy the ticket on Friday for the drawing that following Saturday. (in this case 3 tickets) BTW if the prize amounts to not enough to get excited about, we roll it over into the next Happy Hour PB purchase.  So far, after two and a half years of doing this we have won about $12.00.  So I'm sure the 9th will be our lucky lucky ticket purchase!

Next chance for a Friday Happy Hour is 8/2/13

This Saturday afternoon 7/20, is a private party from 2 till maybe dark.  We have a rain date for the next day, same time.
"They" say a 60% chance of storms Saturday.

Boy did the house smell good last night with Beth cooking up Sloppy Joe's and shredded chicken sandwiches.  They will be on the menu tonight.

The water temp was 76 this morning.  It should be around 80 tonight.

It's rumored Brien and Terry Moore will make an appearance at this Friday's addition of Happy Hour.

We fired up the pool heater & should have the water in the 80's today.

Sunday looks to be in the 80's

Please stop by to join us for grilled chicken poolside.  We shall also have some Bloody Mary accoutrements including olives, celery, Scono's famous dilly beans, some seasonings and sauces.  Yum.  We'll have some orange juice on hand too.

If you can, bring a side dish or snack to share.

We'll get started around 1:00 PM.

I vow to have the bocce court in fine bowling condition for those who do.

So we managed a Happy Hour in May!

Started out with beautiful weather.  Went through some off and on heavy showers.   

Lot of folks came over.  I'll see if I can list them all.  Todd & Beth, Tom and Fran, Don & Nancy, Alan & Bonnie, Barry and Kathy, Amanda & Lillie, Don G. Peggy, Ellen, Janet, Lisa, Haley and Don and Chris.  

We had plenty of time to grill up some burgers and dogs and there were lots of side dishes and deserts too.  

It was fun dodging around the storms and everyone packing in the pool house.  Lillie and Amanda got to swim in the rain.

Big thanks to Chris for helping us to get ready for pool season and Happy Hour.

UPDATE 4:50.  Storms creeping closer but still to the west.  See you shortly if you can make it!

Storm animation on the Weather Channel has the storms staying west of us.  It runs the projection until about 7:30.  I'll check back in with Weather Channel to get and to give an update about 4 to 4:30 tonight.

Looking good for Happy Hour May 31

The weather report has us in the 80's with a 30% chance of rain.  That's the best shot since last September.

Had better than 10 swimmers today!  Pools getting warmer every day at about 76 or 77 today.  Likely 80's by Happy Hour.

Beth is going to grill up some burgers.  Let's go for it.  Hope to see you here Friday May 31!

As always, if the weather forecast changes for the worse, check back to see if we are still on ... but I'm optimistic!

Curses ... foiled again!

 

80's Wednesday.  70's Thursday.  LOW 60's Friday and lets throw in some 17 mile per hours winds.

No Happy Hour poolside this Friday May 24 due to the forecast.  We'll be shooting for next week.

Looks like Friday May 24 will be our first Happy Hour of the season!

As always, Happy Hour will be weather permitting.  The five day forecast call for 68 and sunny.  Check back to be sure.  We hope to see you at Happy Hour!

We are very close, very close in deed.

The pool has cleaned up pretty nicely with some finishing touches needed. We have 1/2 the winter pool stuff put to bed until October and much of the summer stuff out.

I'm thinking next Friday, May 24 is a likely first Happy Hour of the season!  Check back mid week.  I'll be keeping an eye on the forecast.

We chipped through the ice & took the cover off. We have a pool!

We have a ways to go but we are getting there.  The cover came off Thursday May 9 and the filter was up and running the next day.

Once we get through the Mother's Day cold snap, we'll be headed in the right direction.  Next Friday is a possibility according to the long term forecast.  It will take some intensive gardening and pool house clean up but right now I'm not ruling out Happy Hour for Friday May 17.  We'll have to wait and see!

Our good neighbor's from the Market Basket may help add some very tasty items to our HH hors d'oeuvres line up.  Skip and Tammy are opening a CHAMPS Chicken at the Market Basket setup within their Cherry Valley Road Market Basket.  There is a link to a CHAMPS menu on the right side of the page.  I wonder what they will bring?  I'll keep you posted as to which HH they will be presenting.  While you're there, check out their huge selection of domestic and craft beers.
