Looks like at least one more warm weekend!

We would love to have HH this Friday BUT it looks like were are moving HH to Saturday, early afternoon. We'll have the TV on (maybe a couple TVs) for the noon Buckeye vs Indiana game. The Happy Hour regulars and irregulars are invited. With great luck we will have the pool pump motor replaced by Thursday late so that we can heat the pool up for one more swim. Might not get it done until Friday which should still work for a weekend swim. Call if you want to be sure about swimming.

As for last Friday don't worry~ the Hupp's gave us a call. We had a great time roaming the town with them. We ran into a fine circle of friends at "The Beverage Source" on our travels.

Early in the week weather reports had today as not so nice

So no Happy Hour scheduled for tonight. Looks like it's going to be pretty decent weather too... go figure.

I did get a chance to purchase a PowerBall ticket for last Saturdays drawing. No luck again. We hit the very first time I bought one for HH in April for $6.00. That's the last time we had a winner.

Saturday for the Buckeye game we are heading to Galena to watch the noon game at Mudflats. It's a great local place with some "not your usual" tavern food. Here's a link to their web site. It would be cool if you could join us. http://www.themudflats.com/

I don't know what we are up to tonight. First Friday since April we've to fend for ourselves. Give us a call if you have any great ideas.

There's a slight chance we could have another poolside yet HH this year. Check back if there's another warm Friday this month.

Man! Windy was right!

Good swimming earlier in the day. We had a few pool babes stop by. Food was also good at HH. Beth made a Mexican casserole, Nancy brought what she dubbed "BBQ chili". I had 2 helpings of both!

We had a turnout of 7 + Beth and I. It was quite different from our usual hot and sunny HH of most of this past season. It was humid and drizzly and rainy. I thought it a nice interesting change.

I had forgotten to pick up a PowerBall ticket prior to HH. I'll make an effort to do so prior to today's drawing. It's adults only for a split if we hit this week.

Happy Hour may or may not be over for the season. Check back here or give us a call if your wondering. As of yet we have not chosen a date for pool closing. Once we close the pool it's just to dreary to have HH at the pool house.

Thanks for helping to make this the best HH season ever.

We hope to see you soon.

ps. we usually open the pool mid April.

Friday forecast is warm and windy. Let's do it!

We are to expect the wind to pick up an hour or two before Happy Hour. Then a 30% chance of isolated boomers.

That's good enough for me, how about you? I kinda need a HH.

This may or may not be the last of this seasons Happy Hour festivities. You never know.

The pool has been warm at around 80. Bring the kids by early if you want to take advantage of the warm weather.

We'll be here hoping to see you.

Happy Hour to resume 9-24-10

No Happy Hour poolside this Friday 9-17-10. : (

We hope the weather smiles upon us for 9-24. HH may keep going for the first week of October too.

The water has stayed in the low 80's and we have been swimming almost every night trying to squeeze as much as possible out of a great summer.

Have a nice weekend and hope to see you 9-24.

Go Bucks!

Happy Hour on for 9/10/10

Forecast says 75 and sunny!
The pool has been in the low 80's with the days sun combating the cool nights. Kids and adults may want to squeeze in one more HH swim. Better to come early around 5:00 while there's still some sun if your going to get wet. It was 80 water temp when I swam Thursday night. Water was fine but the air was cool at 7:00 PM.
Beth's made a big pot of chili so we'll have that going for us.
This could be the last poolside HH of the year. It's just so hard to tell this time of year.

Hope to see you Friday 5:00ish!

GO BUCKS!

I'll do a weather check in the morning...

and post if we are on for Happy Hour for the 3rd. I expect we will be. I think my sisters and at least 1 brother in law will be attending.

I owe a report from last Friday. It was great time. I'll post pictures tomorrow. No PowerBall luck again this week...dang.

Hope to see you Friday after 5:00.

GO BUCKS!

Looking forward to Happy Hour August 27, 2010

Mark & Linda Granger and Duane Allen are going to be in town this coming Friday. That's almost too much fun to have at once. We shall endeavor to persevere! REALLY looking forward to it.

The weather report is weird for the week. The coolest evening of the summer are coming up. Evening lows in the low 60's, 50's and high 40's? Much cooler days too. High Friday of 77 and 81 for Saturday. You never know this far out what's going to happen. I think I'll drag out the solar cover and see if I can get the pool heater to fire up just in case they get it right for a change.

Don't miss this one if you can help it.

I wrote a nice long report and lost it to cyber space

HH August 21, 2010. Here's the short of it lots of good food and folks. Highlight for me. Isabel learned to swim.

Here's a few pics to view.

No PowerBall numbers at all this week.

This Friday and last

First ... tonight looks warm with some clouds. We will be here, so come on over.

Second ... last weeks Happy Hour was lots of fun with good folks and quite a feast. They came in two phases. Gabby, Nancy and Don came by first. Nancy brought that bean and ground beef slightly sweet concoction that I love. It went great with the baked turkey breast sandwiches Beth made.

Second came B & B Thomson and their neighbor Bonnie. Bonnie brought a marvelous salad with chicken & curry. The Thomson's brought grapes encrusted with cheese and nuts. We did a lot of vacation talk. Previous and future. I love that. I enjoyed my self completely.

We hope to see you tonight!

87 feels like 93. Good time for a poolside hour!

Hope to see you tonight 8/13/10!

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

Looks good for Friday from this Wednesday point of view.

For now I'd say we are on. Check back closer to Friday to see what the weather is doing.

Sorry to the folks who stopped by last week. Check the blog or call to be sure.

Thursday, August 5, 2010

No happy hour Friday August 6. See you August 13!

Everything is fine. We are back up and running but check this out!

Monday, August 2, 2010

POWERBALL!

We had 1,5,36,41,55 and 25. The numbers were 1,16,17,41,57 and 15.

We had two correct! That's a first. I must be getting better at this!

Didn't win anything but we're getting closer.

HAPPY HOUR UNLIKELY AT THE POOLSIDE

This coming Friday, August 6th. More on that later once things have firmed up.

July 30th Happy Hour report

Interesting night with lots of comings and goings. It never seemed to get crowded but we had 23 or 24 visitors including several first timers.
Computer Don may have been the first to arrive. Several guests said "Hey I know that guy. He fixed my computer." I think he may have picked up a new client while he was here BTW.
I'm not sure who arrived first out of the Moore clan but Nick was here for HH the first time this season. Brien, Terry and Rachael came early and left early. Maybe we'll see them this Sunday?
Mary Paulmier came by in the hopes of seeing Amie. We called Amie to see if she was on her way. She was ... going to some alternate Happy Hour!
Tim C was here and his daughter Tiffany was a first timer this night. This round of school will be over soon for her, so congrats!
Neighbor Dave and Kim stopped by for the first time too. I think they had a good time. They might bring some friends of theirs next time who are friends of our too. We hope they do.
Harry brought his devilish box of eclairs. I learned my lesson from last time. Just have one.
There were all sorts of great treats. Don? Isabel and Nancy made me a birthday cake that was wonderful. Michelle, Marty and Reece brought a well like berry desert. Michelle and Marty were in a funny (ha ha) mood and cracked me up several times.
Beth and Nancy both made some tasty pasta dishes which I have enjoyed several time this weekend. Thanks!
Don and Chris were here. I think they are coming back Sunday for some swim and boccie.
Alan and Bonnie were here. I think Bonnie is off to Michigan and Alan is working on a cool project in Granville. He had to leave early for a project meeting.
The Hupps were heading out early in the morning for a meeting with Alisha's boyfriend's (Greg) folks. Greg has been to a few Happy Hours having brought some great home brewed beer his last visit. We hope to see Greg, Alisha and the rest of the family too for that matter, again this year.
I'll review later to see if any addition guests should be included in the HH7-30-10 report & post the results of the PowerBall drawing (I'm hoping for at least 1 number this time round). I'm going to go mow the grass before it get too hot.
I'm pretty sure there will be NO HAPPY HOUR POOLSIDE FOR AUGUST 6th. I'll verify and post updates on that too. WOW! August already...slow down a bit please.

Pictures from July 23 Happy Hour

A little late with these pictures but much better than the July 30th HH where I took -0- pictures.

Looks like we are on again this Friday

Hope to see you Friday the 30th!

Saturday, July 24, 2010

WOW ... lot of folks and fun!

It was a hot one Friday. We had visitors starting at about 11:00 AM. Ronda and her mom started us off early and they brought lunch. Thanks ladies.

Brien got things rolling with the after work crowd. He was one of many who took their bathing suits to work as to allow for making a splash asap. Terry and Rachael and Randy were soon to follow. Rachael and Randy are going to be neighbors very soon. Gabby took her suit to work too. She left early to head to some Buckeye Lake fun.

The Hupp's were here. Hadn't seen them in a while as they have been working, working, working. Mr. Snyder accompanied Mr. Hupp. Amie was here with some stories to tell! Alan and Bonnie brought 4 friends from Michigan. They are heading to the rib fest today.

Neighbors Don and Nancy brought Isabel. Neighbors Marty and Michelle brought Reece and her friend Marlyn.

Bill Smith made it for the first time this year. He brought Jen for her first HH and we hope she comes back for many more. You too Bill.

I don't think Bert, Brigitte and Nate had been here for a HH before. I'm giving them first time status until I learn otherwise. I think they had fun. Bert issued a boccie challenge which will be addressed in the near future I hope. I got a good picture of Nate jumping into the pool I'll post later. I was lacking in my picture taking. When I started snapping shots it was getting dark and several guests had headed out. I'll post all my pictures later.

In a night of several special and unexpected guests I saved Shelly Whitefield Bodi for last mention. It was so nice to see her. We tried to keep her but she had to go visit mom. We hope she comes back soon and brings her husband Kevin.

There was tons of food. Beth made a huge hot cabbage, rice and veggie thing that tastes just like stuffed cabbage. It disappeared but I made sure to get my share. There were great deserts including some gooey brownies UMMM and some berry pie that I worked on as a bedtime snack UMMM. There was fried chicken and salad and other goodies I didn't get a chance to sample.

In closing some observations. Perhaps our hottest HH ever coincidental the one with the most swimmers I can ever remember. I'd say about 12 in the pool is pretty close to right. There were a total of 30 in attendance if my memory serves me right. We started early and kept things going until a little after dark. Thanks to all who attended for making it a most enjoyable day / HH for Beth and me.

This Friday looking hot and humid. Come on over!

Last weeks HH was a good one again. Amie shared some tales from Ireland. Tim C, Rick and Margo, Alan and Bonnie, Don and Nancy along with their daughter Lisa and her kids were the others in attendance. Rick purchased an extra PowerBall ticket to no avail. At least his had 1 number. Mine was shut out again. Maybe this Friday????

Things ended before dark so Beth and I followed Rick and Margo to the Manor House. Ron and Sheila have a Super Deluxe chuck-wagon that they can take around the country providing equally deluxe meals. They were last Friday, and are currently serving folks from next to the Manor House patio. Saw a lot of folks at the MH that we knew and had a fine time there.

Saturday was a hoot at the pool. Lots of little and middle sized kids and plenty of big ones. Sunday was equally fun & only adults.

What a great pool weekend it was. It really helped make up for last years lack of pool days.

Slept well Sunday night.

Hope to see you Friday some time after 5:00 for Happy Hour.

Friday update looking good

WHIZ TV says clearing late morning and OK this afternoon so we say come on down. You can check back closer to HH if pop up showers approach but for now we are ON.

Amie said she was planning on attending and there's a chance Roger might be by too. I'm ready for a few travel - Ireland yarns!

We were perfect the first round of trivia ...... then fizzled big time the second round. The weather and company were fine. Savant Matt did not attend and I don't blame him. A team that had not won before this year (I think) took the prize. Cool. We did not know that the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers converged at Harper's Ferry or that salt water estuaries, bays and coves were referred to as "firths" in Scotland. Margo where were you?

Wes did play at The Grill on 21st last nigh. There was a big crowd. Good music. Lots of folks we knew. Wes said his schedule there is not every Thursday so keep that in mind.

The PowerBall numbers for this Friday - Saturday are 22 - 43 - 48 - 52 - 53 and ... and I think I'll hold off posting the PB red number until after the drawing. Change of system may mean change of luck.

We hope to see you tonight!

Early forecast for Friday ... 88 isolated T-storms

We are hopeful the weather will cooperate and will post Friday yes or no as to Happy Hour.
*** I assume Amie and Roger returned from Ireland. I'm anxious to hear all about it and maybe see all about it. I'll call Amie and see if HH is in her and Roger's near future.
*** I think Wes has become a regular at the Grill on Thursday night. I'm going to try to take in some of his show this week.
*** We'll be at trivia tonight, Wednesday, at Papa Boo's. It's been quite a while since we've had a win. No fault of Matt. He's had the winning answer two out of the last three weeks. Maybe we'll listen tonight?
*** BTW, I did purchase a PowerBall ticket last Friday. There was no Happy Hour last Friday. The ticket hit for $550.00.

Just kidding ... we had no numbers ... again. Beth says we are saving up for a BIG win.

"They" say 60% chance of rain tonight July 9

Looks like we'll take a break from poolside Happy Hour tonight.

No happy Hour at the pool house tonight.

We hope to see you next week!

We expectedly had a light turnout for July 2nd

The long weekend saw the pool used quite a bit though. Here's some pictures from the past weekends activities. Some Friday night stuff with Barry, Don, Nancy, Isabel and Marty, Michelle and Reece came by for a while.
Then a little kayaking up the Little Walnut Creek and Hover Res. Saturday.
Followed by a great turnout for the 4th with ribs and all the side dishes you could want. Just guessing I'd say about 30 friends stopped by. We had a great long weekend and hope you did too.

Low key happy hour enjoyed by those in attendance.

My sister Darlene and her husband David started us out early. They brought lunch by and we got to shoot the breeze for a few hours. They were able to do a side visit from their main trip to Marysville. They passed along an invite from David's father for us to join them for a Marysville fish fry over the weekend. Unfortunately we had to pass on that due to other commitments.

Tom and Fran came by for HH and shared the news that Lauren passed her boards. Congratulations Dr. Lauren! Brien and Terry Moore and Alan and Bonnie Montgomery visited. Of course Isabel stopped over. She brought Nancy and Don with her. Gabby also stopped by on her way home from work. Nancy brought some killer desert. Beth made some BBQ pulled pork that hit the spot.

There were lots of local personal events going on this weekend so the 8:00 ish end to happy hour was just right.

Many of us including Bonnie and Alan, Kathy and Barry, Gabby and Beth and I attended Amie and Roger's wedding. We got them married Saturday afternoon. IT WAS A GREAT WEDDING AND FUN TIME! Have a wonderful trip to Ireland!
A few of us then stopped at a big reunion party and Don and Chris's farm. There were dozens and dozens in attendance. Lots of good folks, food and fun. Rick (and Margo I assume) were the pig roaster's extraordinaire for the event. Good job guys!

Sunday brought us back to poolside for a Frost side of the family get together. The age range was from less than 1 years old to 90 +. There were over twenty guests. In between showers we got the the burgers and brats cooked and there were tons of good side dished. Between the showers we got lots of swimming in and some boccie to.

I checked the PowerBall numbers this morning. Breaking with tradition, I purchased two tickets thinking that would bring us some luck ... naw. We were 5-24-28-50-53 & 34 + 10-14-19-21-22 & 13. PewerBall said 13-30-32-38-57 & 25. We'll get em next time.

Friday, June 25, 2010

Stop on over Friday June 25.

We've had a few swimmers already. My sister and brother-in law from the UP came by for lunch and a couple cold ones. So happy hour is off to a good start.

Beth has a pork tenderloin cooking up right now for I think pulled pork sammies. I'm heading out to get a few extra cold ones and a PowerBall chance.

We hope you'll be here.

Amie Chapman is marrying Roger Webb Saturday. Congratulations you guys!

A good, early starting, early ending Happ Hour!

Rick and Margo did not bring their friends but they did bring a bonus PowerBall ticket for us to share in. Unfortunately their picks 2-7-12-17-34 & 36 were no better than ours .. dang.
We did have a few first time for the year attendees including Mary Beth and VO. It was sure good to see them. Amanda brought Lilly (I think this was Lilly's first Friday night of the year but I've been wrong before) and Nathan. He did a fine job entertaining Lilly and Isabel giving raft rides in the pool. Eric came for a 1st season visit too. Dawn and Isabel brought Dennis for his 1st of the year.
Others in attendance included Tim C, Barry and Kathy, Alan and Bonnie, Brien (I was wondering where he was hiding) and Terry, Gabby who took advantage of a 1/2 day off and came early, Don and Nancy were here too. I think that about covers it.
Isable put on quite a display in the ring swing on a string game. At just over 4 years old she had what I think is the "Youngest Ringer" honor. If you doubt the still pictures, I posted a little video at the end. Here's some pictures of some of the goings on.
